Safely and Responsibly Dispose of Used Oil

As the seasons change, so to do the uses for your maintenance and lawn equipment. If you're looking to take advantage of this time to do an oil change, A1 Lubricants has put together an easy to follow list to disposing of your old oil.

Pay Attention and Take Your Time

You've taken the time to do it, so make sure that you do it properly. Be sure to set up a catchment device that doesn't allow any leakage onto your garage floor, along with any old newspapers that you can use in the event that it does. Try to find the biggest drip tray you can find as it's likely best suited to the task

Use the Same Bottle

Remember the old bottle that you kept because you knew you would 'find something to do with it'? Well, we know exactly what you can do with it - fill it back up! Carefully pour the oil into the old container and ensure that it is sealed tightly. If you have a piece of silver or duct tape handy, run a few rounds around the lid, just to be sure.

How to Get Rid of It

If you're looking for the quickest way, head to your local mechanic store and ask if they can dispose of it along with theirs. Usually they use a bulk service so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Otherwise, searching online for local recycling options might be the best way if you're looking for something a little less traditional.
